This is the first time that I've heard of such a thing, but according to other artists I know it's Inktober.
Inktober: A daily even that occurs during the month of October where an ink drawing is done every day.
The timing couldn't be more perfect. Yesterday I realized that I need to practice drawing the things in my comic as much as possible so I'm not in a loss when it comes to the final pages. For example, I need to know the ins and outs and angles of a fishing boat, figure out what a sub looks like, know the line work I'll need for angry seas vs. calm seas, etc.
So I've decided to spend the first 5-10 minutes of my IP studio doing a mental sketch dump. I don't want to spend hours on it, I just want to get the gesture behind certain objects and characters. I'm hoping that it'll be a good warm-up the rest of my studio time as well as helping me hammer down the drawing style I'll be using.
Here's the sketches from yesterday, October 1st. Testing out different angles of a fishing boat. More angles and explorations to come, this is just from a 5 minute sketch session.
Apologies for the weird shading at the bottom, the school scanners are crap.
